Vertical Speed

vertical speed
It is a variometer. The height that rises and falls per minute indicates the speed in the vertical direction. The scale unit is 100 feet per min.
The rotary output shaft of the stepping motor is not in the center. This is because there is a reduction gear inside, but sometimes it is convenient that the output shaft is off.
In order to use it for a meter, it must fit in a round frame with an outer diameter of 54 mm. If it sticks out, it will not be able to be attached to the hole in the panel from the front.
The guideline is processing the white plastic material that was at hand.

Meter illumination from the front

I tried to illuminate the light from the front with a white LED. AirSpeed meter shines light from the back of the woodfree scale. The scale is easy to see, but the pointer is black and shadowed, which is not easy to see. So I tried to shine light from the front side. The LED used is a chip type.
The LEDs were angled slightly towards the scale plate to prevent light from entering the eye directly, and the two LEDs were mounted on the frame at a angle of 120°.

config settings

The output value is converted according to the following instructions of FSUIPC. (Convert m / sec to feet / minute)
Vertical speed, signed, as 256 * meters / sec. For the more usual ft / min
you need to apply the conversion *60*3.28084/256
the direction of movement of the pointer was opposite,so I corrected it in Compare.
